Carol Butzman is a lifetime South Dakota resident who graduated from South Dakota State University in 1993 with a M.S. in Counseling. She was elected the Secretary of South Dakota Mental Health Counselors Association and has been a recipient of the Howard B. Smith Counseling Award which reflects ongoing involvement, service and leadership in the SD Mental Health Counselors Association organization.

 

Having been in private practice for more than ten years, Carol is experienced in the treatment of a variety of mental health issues. She is DOT qualified, which means she has completed specific requirements in addiction counseling that pertain to DOT employees who require the services of a Substance Abuse Professional. She also specializes in addictions and is qualified to perform Alcohol and Drug assessments and evaluations.

 

Carol holds certifications in the following areas:

• Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, Level III
• Certified Trained Gambling Therapist
• Certified Trained Home-Based Therapist
• Certified to teach HORIZONS/PROJECT CHARLIE Curriculum

Carol currently holds the highest licensure degree of Mental Health Counseling in South Dakota. She is qualified to assist in areas of clinical depression and anxiety, various relational problems, addictions. Carol also accepts and supports clients in gay and lesbian relationships.

 

Carol recognizes that life’s problems are sometimes challenging and require help. She has developed and implemented what she believes to be the only individual and intensive alcohol and drug outpatient treatment in South Dakota. As she has walked many patients through her progam, she has seen results and successful, sustained abstinence!
